Put in your price and profit. You will see the fee, what it does to your profit, and if you need a new price. Short answer for most sellers: no.
1The rule in 30 seconds
UPI payment up to ₹2,000: no fee.
Above ₹2,000: 0.4% of the payment, max ₹300 (you hit the max at ₹75,000).
You pay it. It is cut from your settlement. You can’t add a separate “UPI charge” for the customer.
18% GST is added on the fee. GST registered? You can claim it back as input credit.
Starts 15 October 2026. Ask your payment gateway for your exact rate in writing (message below).

4Pricing sheet: all your products
Add each product. The sheet tells you which ones need a new price. Download it for your costing file.
Rule used: fee under 4% of profit = keep the price, add 0.4% to costing and adjust at your next price change. 4% or more (profit margin about 10% or less) = change the price now.

Hi team, UPI fees (MDR) change from 15 October 2026. Please confirm in writing for our account:
1. Our UPI rate for payments above ₹2,000 from 15 Oct.
2. That you will share a GST invoice for this fee every month.
3. Whether any UPI fee is being charged on our account right now.
Thanks.
64 mistakes to avoid
₹2,499 → ₹2,509 to cover ₹10. The odd price hurts sales more than the fee.
₹2,049 → ₹1,999 to dodge the fee. You save ₹8 and lose ₹50.
Turning off UPI/prepaid to avoid the fee. One COD return costs about ₹160 in double shipping.
Adding a “UPI charge” at checkout. Not allowed.
Based on the NPCI UPI MDR rules from 15 Oct 2026. Rates can differ by gateway, so confirm yours. This is not tax advice.
